Our final day in Turin was a blend of scenic parks, breathtaking views, and delicious local cuisine. Here’s a look at how we spent the day exploring some of Turin’s hidden green spaces and one of its most iconic landmarks, the Basilica di Superga.

Morning Stroll Through Turin’s Parks
.
We began the day with a peaceful walk through several parks, making our way to the Sassi station. The journey started in Parco dell’Arrivore, a relaxing green space perfect for a morning stroll. From there, we moved through Parco della Confluenza di Piazza Sofia, which offered beautiful natural views and serene paths, and then continued to Parco Pietro Colletta. Each park was a unique experience, offering glimpses of local life in Turin.

Lunch Near Sassi Station
There’re a few places nearby where you can enjoy a hearty lunch before or after your trek up to Superga. Check out local spots for traditional Piedmontese sandwiches, pastries, or coffee to recharge before heading back.

Reaching the Basilica di Superga
Our main destination for the day was the Basilica di Superga, a magnificent church perched on a hill with spectacular views of Turin.

After reaching Stazione Sassi, we took the bus up the winding hillside road, enjoying glimpses of the surrounding landscape.

At the top, the basilica was stunning, with its impressive baroque architecture.

Built in the early 1700s by architect Filippo Juvarra, this historic site also has a significant role in Italian history, housing the tombs of the House of Savoy.

After exploring the basilica, we climbed up to the dome, a rewarding challenge that offered an unforgettable panoramic view of Turin and the distant Alps.

Standing atop the dome and taking in the city stretched out below, framed by the majestic mountains, was a perfect way to cap off our Turin experience.

Dinner at Trattoria Valenza

To celebrate our last evening in Turin, we enjoyed a traditional Piedmontese dinner at Trattoria Valenza.

This cozy, authentic eatery offered a wonderful taste of local flavors:

We started with an assortment of Piedmont’s classic appetizers.

Options included the region’s specialties like tajarin, agnolotti, and gnocchi. We indulged in a couple of these traditional pasta dishes.

For mains, we chose braciole di maiale ai ferri (grilled pork chops) and involtini di cavolo e zucchini ripieni (cabbage rolls and stuffed zucchini) with side dishes.

The meal was completed with Bonet, a classic Piedmontese chocolate and amaretti pudding.

After a memorable three days, it was time to say goodbye to Turin. From its historic sites and cozy cafes to the beautiful basilica overlooking the city, Turin proved to be a unique destination filled with charm and history.
